Malbec was the primary reason we started working in Argentina. It became apparent that the Mendoza region was producing some great quality, inexpensive Malbec and our French winemakers, who know and love this variety very well, thought it would be an asset to our portfolio.
The style of Malbec we aim to create is vibrant, juicy and excellent value with the location of the vineyards helping us to achieve this. The rocky vineyards of Agrelo sit at around 1100 metres in altitude whilst the fertile soils of the Maipu vineyards sit at around 900 metres. Due to the proximity of the Andes, evening temperatures are cooler meaning grapes retain their freshness. As a result, the fruit quality remains, giving great balance and drinkability.
One of our joint venture partnerships is with the Bressia family and we feel privileged that the high quality fruit for our Pablo y Walter Malbec comes from their vineyards.
