We’ve been making wines in South Africa since 1994 and today we still love this place.
After so many years, we are now championing bigger ambitions with our own vineyard and winery in Franschoek and two winemakers, Ryno Booysen and JD Rossouw, travelling around the Western Cape, sourcing grapes from growers large and small (now mostly second and third generation too) in order to make the best wines possible.
It really is all about putting people at the heart. Our partners in South Africa trust that Boutinot is true to their word and know we are looking for long term sustainability rather than a short term ‘profit at any cost’.
Having been established there for a long time, we’ve seen and still see South Africa evolving as a source of amazing wines. While we are keen to keep exploring the Western Cape, there are also some more hidden places like Piekenierskloof, which we cannot help but hold in high regard.
There are still so many wines to make, and so many grape varieties to discover; we are lucky to be doing all of that with two winemakers who really know their stuff. It is an exciting time for Boutinot South Africa!
