Boutinot France

The southern Rhône has always been a source of inspiration for Boutinot. Belles Lettres is a category of writing in French, originally meaning beautiful or fine writing. Winemaker Eric Monnin likens it to the way he makes his wines; crafting something of pure beauty. A writer of Belles Lettres is a 'belletrist’.

Production

Made from predominantly Grenache and Syrah picked at optimum ripeness. Despite its warm climate, Cairanne is renowned for balanced wines - here vines are aided by water deep in the sandy soil which roots have to dig deep to access water and nutrients. Such richly flavoured grapes need little help in the winery, so our winemakers use a minimal-intervention approach and traditional winemaking techniques.

Tasting notes

Sweet red fruits on the nose, full-bodied and complex palate with good structure.

Food match

Think hearty dishes with big flavours. Roast lamb shoulder with rosemary potatoes, beef Goulasch, or sticky Asian-style pork. For vegetarian options, try a spicy pasta alla norma, or a slow-cooked ratatouille.
