Boutinot France

The southern Rhône has always been a source of inspiration for Boutinot. Belles Lettres is a category of writing in French, originally meaning beautiful or fine writing. Winemaker Eric Monnin likens it to the way he makes his wines; crafting something of pure beauty. A writer of Belles Lettres is a 'belletrist’.

Production

We have worked in the southern Rhône for over 30 years and have built enviable relationships with a network of local growers in the region. As a result, we are able to source from vineyards across the Côtes du Rhône, choosing plots based on the different attributes each parcel of fruit will bring to the blend. Although the Côtes du Rhône are famed for their reds, white wines from the area can be beautiful as we show here. Gentle pressing followed by cool fermentation in stainless steel preserves freshness.

Tasting notes

This Côtes du Rhône Blanc is about delicacy: aromas on the floral side rather than sweet fruit, with a fresh profile continuing to the palate.

Food match

The wine's flavours shine with light fish dishes or sushi. The natural acidity also compliments heavier dairy dishes like creamed spinach or asparagus risotto.
