Boutinot France

Recently awarded its prestigious 'CRU' status in recognition of the quality produced in its vineyard, Cairanne village lies in the heart of the Rhône and our cuvée pays homage to this new appellation. Home to the 'Knights' of the Hospitaliers de St. Jean in the 12th century, sworn to assist in the defence of Jerusalem and specifically, to protect a hospital built in Jerusalem before the first crusade, the village, with its ancient stone buildings, retains an atmosphere of those medieval times.

Production

This Cairanne is made from quality Grenache and Syrah grapes that were picked at optimum ripeness. Partially aged in French oak barriques for 12 months, the wine has developed a wonderful structure and richness.

Tasting notes

A moreish nose of vanilla, Kirsch and chocolate, this full-flavoured Rhône red is warming with a smoky cinnamon finish.

Food match

The perfect match to flavoursome red meat dishes, casseroles and rich stews.
